FOR PROFESSIONALS, CREATIVES & ATHLETES
EMDR for
Performance
Whether you’re a professional preparing for a high-stakes presentation, an athlete competing under pressure, or a creative stepping into the spotlight — performance anxiety can silently undermine even the most prepared, skilled, and experienced people.
It may show up as tension, overthinking, self-doubt, or a sudden loss of clarity at exactly the moment it matters most. This is not about lacking ability or preparation. It is about the underlying patterns that resurface under pressure.
This is not coaching or stress management. It is specialist clinical work — drawing on EMDR and trauma-informed approaches — applied to the specific demands of high-performance environments.
HOW EMDR WORKS
Prepared, capable - and yet something gets in the way.
You are prepared. You know your material. And yet something takes over — a racing heart, a blank mind, a voice that doesn't sound like your own.
This is the brain holding onto past experiences of criticism, scrutiny, or moments where the pressure exceeded what felt manageable — and firing the same alarm in the present. EMDR helps the brain reprocess those stored experiences, removing the emotional charge that makes the past feel immediate and threatening.
Most clients notice a steadiness in high-pressure situations that previously felt out of reach. Not the absence of feeling — a different relationship to it.
THE WORK ENABLES YOU TO:
Access your existing skills reliably in high-stakes situations
Reduce overthinking and hesitation at critical moments
Strengthen confidence and presence under scrutiny
Build consistency and resilience across demanding environments
Regain composure and perspective after a difficult performance
WHO THIS IS FOR
Professionals
For individuals working in demanding roles where pressure, anxiety, or self-doubt may be affecting confidence, clarity, or overall wellbeing.
Creatives & Performers
For those whose work requires visibility, expression, and presence, and where anxiety has begun to interfere with confidence, creativity, or connection to the work itself.
Athletes & Coaches
Competitive athletes navigating the psychological demands of performance — including anxiety, loss of form, injury recovery, and the mental weight of competition.
COMMON PRESENTATIONS
Performance anxiety before high-visibility moments — presentations, pitches, competitions
Persistent self-doubt that doesn’t reflect actual ability or preparation
A stress response that feels disproportionate or is becoming harder to manage
Difficulty regaining form or confidence after a significant setback
Transitions where identity has become closely tied to performance
ABOUT EMDR
A direct, evidence-based approach.
EMDR — Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing — is a well-researched, NICE-recommended therapy. It works by helping the brain reprocess stored experiences that continue to drive fear and self-doubt, so they no longer hijack the present-moment response.
It does not require you to discuss difficult experiences in detail. It is direct, targeted, and often produces meaningful change more quickly than traditional approaches for these kinds of presentations.
Specialist Experience
For over a decade, I have worked in high-intensity clinical settings, including Major Trauma Centres in Central London and specialist services.
This experience has shaped a detailed understanding of how sustained pressure affects confidence, clarity, decision-making, and emotional regulation. The same adaptive responses that support individuals in high-stakes environments can, over time, contribute to performance anxiety, self-doubt, or difficulty maintaining focus.
When anxiety, confidence blocks, or stress responses are rooted in deeper, underlying patterns, coaching, insight, and strategy alone may not be enough.
